Volunteer

Historically, we have had four annual events requiring volunteers: a Poster Project in March, a 5K/10K in May, a Golf Outing in July, and a Family Fun Fair in September. As we build a brand new Events Program in 2023/2024 to launch Decade Two, we will invite you to help. You can pick and choose whichever volunteer opportunities you like, and decline the ones you don’t. THANK YOU, and see you at a future LOVE>hate event!

Share Your Story

Systems are critical, to cement change into culture. Programs are essential, to bring resources, tools, and wide access to facilitate changes. But, nothing has the power to influence and cause culture change, nothing touches hearts and changes thinking, like a personal, true, Story of survival from someone who lived it.

If you are ready to share your story for the benefit of others, if you have arrived at a place in your journey where you have the power, courage, and freedom to share your true personal story, from victim to survivor to thriver, then L>h wants to give you a platform to do so.

We could share your story in social media posts. We could interview you for our ‘Real People Real Stories’ series. Or, you could even become a speaker at events. Whatever your comfort level, whichever you choose. We will help you through the process, share your story respectfully, and ask your final approval before publishing anything.

THE POSTER PROJECT

Our poster messages are aimed at both victims/survivors and offenders, as well as the general public. The posters are hung in all kinds of places, including bar restrooms, restaurants, work spaces, churches, storefronts, schools, and libraries. The goals of the Poster Project are to raise community awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, and also to encourage both survivors and offenders to call a help line and get the support they need.

YOU can help. All you have to do is download each poster, send to your local printer, and place them. Please be sure to get permission from the establishment, otherwise they won’t be up long. And please get a little wall putty to stick the posters to any surface without damaging the surface. We will create new posters annually for you to download and place again. Finally, please FILL OUT THE FORM to tell us how many posters you placed in how many establishments, so we can track the reach of our Poster Project. THANK YOU!

Your Ideas

Hannah was a 16-year-old sophomore girl when she sat in the first program L>h ever did, a schoolwide assembly at Jessie’s high school. A year later, she reached out to us in an email and said, “I listened to you tell us that it’s our generation that must bring change, and I knew I had to do something. Hannah had an idea. She ran 20 miles a day for 10 days straight, from Hayward in NW Wisconsin to Milwaukee in SE Wisconsin. She took pledges, raised money with every step, did news interviews in towns all along her journey, and raised $15,000 to help Exploit No More build a safe house for survivors of human trafficking.

We wonder what your idea could do? Maybe we’ve already thought of them. Or tried them. Or they clearly wouldn’t work. Or whatever. What if 10 would work?! What if we started Decade Two with just 5 outstanding new actionable ideas that had a chance to presence Love more and decrease violence? Who knows what 5 great new ideas could do, and the ripple effects from them. We’ll never know unless you submit them.
