The Black Husky Brewing team (with owners Tim and Toni) joined forces with 38 microbreweries across the US to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We have long known the strong connection between the abuse of alcohol and the abuse of people. It is so good and hopeful to see leaders in the industry step up, add their voices and their messages, and collaborate to change hearts and minds and end violence.
One in four women and one in nine men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Imagine an offender sitting alone with angry thoughts at a bar and reading that label (see label on can below).
I was able to enjoy a can of the ‘One in Four’ beer release after presenting “A Message from Jessie”. Congrats to Sam on his first recipe; it was delicious! A big thank you to the Black Husky and everyone who attended for everything, but mostly for helping us make Jessie’s life and death (and those of millions) count for something.
Early in the pandemic, when the City of Milwaukee capped such establishments at 25% capacity, one of the five microbreweries in the Riverwest neighborhood was too small to make it with that restriction. Black Husky invited them to come over and serve their food allowing them to survive together, as a community of friends.
